PlayFirst is including Facebook Connect in their upcoming release of Diner Dash 5: Boom for PC/Mac. Players will be able to gift a power-ups to friends by logging into Facebook Connect. There is no further integration with Facebook in the game, and no mention has been made of whether similar functionality will exist on other platforms. There will also be Facebook and Twitter pages dedicated to the game, but these do not affect gameplay.

NFL Canada and Nissan have partnered to bring you their latest social media campaign,  a contest where you “Play NFL Social Games and you could win a Nissan Pathfinder”.  By signing in using your Facebook account, and playing quiz, trivia, concentration and other social games, players are able to win chances to get a new car.  Considering the good quality of the games, the various social elements and the Facebook Connect, this campaign seems to be a good use of Social Gaming.

A new study from the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills in the United Kingdom reports that more British parents are using newer technology to stay connected with their children away at school, according to AllHeadlines.

Now, my mother and I weren’t always the best of friends, but while in college I still called her every Sunday afternoon. Back then, I called her on her landline. She rarely used her cell phone and had no idea how to send or receive text messages. Things have changed in the past few years, and my mother now happily embraces her Blackberry, email and LinkedIn. But how much easier would things have been if my mother had been on an online social network when I was in college?
