Tech Cocktail DC 2
Friday, April 25th, 2008Last night’s Tech Cocktail in D.C. was great. Over 300 people showed up for the event and it proved that D.C. does indeed have a bubbling tech scene. There were numerous demos and a number of free handouts from Ligit and AOL. All in all I would say it was a successful events. Thanks to Frank Gruber and Eric Olson for putting it together.
I’ve compiled all of the photos that showed up on Flickr from the Tech Cocktail album and from Jason Garber who posted his photos on his Flickr profile. I’m sure there are many more photos that I missed but I included close to 120 of them in the following video. Enjoy! Also, be sure to check out the Tech Cocktail conference that Frank and Eric will be putting on next month in Chicago. I’ll be speaking at it with a number of other great speakers so be sure to attend!
Social Networking Wars
Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008Current TV posted a pretty entertaining video about social networking wars:
SXSW Vlogging Panel
Sunday, March 9th, 2008After waking up and rushing to a panel which I thought was something else yesterday morning, I had the pleasure of sitting in on a discussion among top vlog hosts on the web. These web video professionals were an obviously passionate group of individuals that work tirelessly to develop and promote their videos. This first video went without a tripod resulting in some shaky camera work. Hopefully it doesn’t make you too nauseous!
Interview With Sebastian Traeger
Friday, February 15th, 2008Earlier this week I had the opportunity to sit down with Sebastian Traeger the CEO of Razoo.com. Razoo was initially launched as the social network for social good but since its launch last year it appears that Sebastian has decided to switch business models. During our interview Sebastian discusses the challenges of building an online community and where they are headed over the next few months.
Interview With Ann Bernard
Friday, February 8th, 2008Yesterday I had the opportunity to sit down with Ann Bernard the Founder and CEO of WhyGoSolo.com. Why Go Solo, a D.C. based startup, provides users with the opportunity to find people to attend events with. I kept trying to allude to the fact that this site would be best suited for dating but Ann insists that this is a site for platonic relationships. However WhyGoSolo.com ends up being used, it was launched last month and has been gaining users since. Ann is probably one of the most entrepreneurial people I have ever met. Her company is currently seeking a round of funding so if you are looking for a company to invest in, you should talk to her!
Tim O’Shaughnessy - Hungry Machine LLC
Saturday, February 2nd, 2008Tim O’Shaughnessy is one of the partners at Hungry Machine, a leading social network application development company based in Washington, D.C. Last week I had the pleasure of sitting down with Tim to get his insight into the future of social networking and social platforms. Recently, social network platform technologies have been changing from week to week and it is difficult to keep up with everything that is going on. Hungry Machine is one of a few companies that are leading in this space and are able to stay on the bleeding edge of the new web technologies. Check out my interview with Tim to find out more about Hungry Machine, and hear about his thoughts about the future of social platforms.

Interview With Ben Katz
Thursday, January 24th, 2008Last week I had the opportunity to speak with Ben Katz, CEO of Dial A Geek. This interview isn’t among my typical interviewees but given that Ben Katz is active in the D.C. Technology Community I figured that I’d give him the opportunity to speak about his company and what they do. DialAGeek, provides on demand computer support for both individuals and businesses. They also have a national team of technicians that can actually come to your place of residence or office and help fix any issues you are having. Check out the video to learn more about them.

Brijit.com is the equivalent of a web based Reader’s Digest of long-form content. Currently, the focus is on printed long-form content but will expand to cover a wider base of content. I was impressed to hear that Brijit.com is currently producing close to 100 articles per day. Check out my interview with Jeremy to learn more about his site.
