Socialnomics Revisits ‘Social Media Revolution’

Social Media RevolutionLast August Erik Qualman, author of Socialnomics, introduced ‘Social Media Revolution’, an infographic video chock full of social media statistics.  The original video was a hit, with over 1.8 million views, but in the 9 months since it was released the world of social media has changed quite a bit and many of the statistics represented in the video have become outdated.  Yesterday, Socialnomics released a refresh of their video, new and improved with up-to-date social media and mobile statistics, facts and figures.

‘Social Media Revolution 2′ is four and a half solid minutes of all the statistics you could ever want or need to know about social media, from the fact that 1 in 8 couples married in the US met via social media to the fact that if Facebook was a country it would be the third largest country in the world.  The new video refresh isn’t only updated in regards to the statistics, but it pops with new graphics and design.  Kudos to Socialnomics on a job well done!

Social media is continuing to grow at a rapid pace, as the statistics in this video illustrate.  Sometimes it is hard to understand just how big sites like Facebook have become until you see the figures.  How do you think social media will continue to grow in the future and what do you think the effect on society will be around the globe?

Hmpf. "Sony content" makes this video "unavailable" in my country. (Europe.) How un-global.
  • OldEurope:

Love the handle! I posted on Vimeo here which sometimes doesn't get blocked!

That was pretty enlightening! It blows my mind how much has changed since social media has first began, to what it is right now for all of us.

I really enjoyed this video. I know that social media IS the way we run our world today but there is something about seeing stastics like this that really make you sit back and think. It's amazing how fast it has taken over. I love it, wouldn't have it any other way though. :)
  • LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!! Thank you.

Love this video, though it's more of a "remix" than part 2. Lots of facts rehashed BUT I still love it.
