More Than A Third Of Internet Users Update Their Status Weekly

Updating a social networking website has never been easier with the plethora of tools available. And for many of today’s Internet users, updating these networks has become a common thing. According to a study performed by the North American Technographics Empowerment Online Survey, 33% of the surveyed group indicated that they update a social networking website or post tweets to Twitter on a weekly basis.

The group—labeled as “Conversationalists”—was described by one of the two people behind the study, Josh Bernoff from Groundswell. Just 30% of the conversationalists are under the age of 30 and the majority of them are female users.

Creators, another category, includes users who publish a blog, web site or upload various forms of media. They are a slightly smaller group than the conversationalists, coming in at 24% of all online adults.

It’s easy to conclude that people are getting involved with social networks more than ever. With services such as Ping.fm available to update a variety of social networks with a single update, it makes it easy for the casual social networker to keep all of their platforms up to date.

What are your thoughts on these statistics and the graph? If you had to categorize yourself, where would you fall?
