Data owneship is really a risk. Now is OK, but what if they decide to close down their service in a year or two?

Beside this risk, their service is OK.

Didn’t realize that comments were stored on disqus! When I installed it didn’t preserve any of my past comments, and I’ve sent an email to their help.

Several blogging platforms offer up an RSS feed for comments. You could house the comments locally, and then import that RSS feed into friendfeed.

I just implemented Disqus on my blog after thinking about it for a few days. It’s not been an easy decision - mostly due to the “giving up your comment ownership” aspect of it.

You are right though - there are just too many plusses.
