We have in fact, created a system that monetizes social networks on multiple levels and generates revenue for the owner with our newly launched platform at intellipodcast (http://www.intellipodcast.com )! :)

Money is already coming and will come more and more -)Social media done right is the next frontier for brand engagement. We had great success with our branded app for Virgin Mobile France. The folks at BuddyMedia are pulling some interesting clients who build a new engagement tool for their brand followers. The average 26 minutes/day spent by facebook users are testament to it becoming part of the daily routine and therefore advertising and brand engagement will follow.

Velvet ropes, baby. The reason there's no money is that we're only just starting to make the tools. We haven't really built the "serving suggestions."

LinkedIn is making money. They can stand to make even more. They need only realize a few things about their mission and they could be rolling in it.

Facebook? Oh, I have my theories, most of them dark.

Velvet ropes and nichemining.

Hey Noah,

I mean someone else can try to develop an effective monetization system but ultimately I believe Facebook is working on this with Social Ads. My guess is that they will launch an individual CPM rate for users and start paying out to the users. How sticky do you think their site will be when you start getting paid to use it more frequently?

If you have a better solution I'd always be happy to listen (and possibly participate) :)

Best,
Nick
