Help! I’m Addicted to Twitter!

Over the past few months I have been an occasional user of Twitter. Then last week while attending the Web Community Forum in Seattle I noticed that practically everyone was using Twitter to communicate with each other. I hadn’t been following any of the chatter on Twitter but there was a fair amount that I was missing out on. I had to join the conversation!

Last week I began using the service on a regular basis and now I have become a regular user. Not only is it a way for tracking what I am up to but it is also a great way for tracking conversations. I’m not quite sure what the phenomenon is that makes us want to Twitter but suddenly I can’t get enough of it. Jeremiah Owyang has pointed out the recent phenomenon.

Just last night I suggested to my roommate that he begin using Twitter as a way for promoting his blog. I honestly hate using the word and feel like the biggest geek for doing so but I can’t stop Twittering! Twitter has become just as addictive for me as Facebook has and that is a big deal. Now the only thing Twitter has left to do is figure out how they are going to make money! If you are on twitter then go follow me. Say hello and I’ll add you back.

I hear you! I didn't start really getting into Twitter until a couple of months ago, but since then I've been on there probably three hours every day! I don't know what it is about it, but once you get bit, you're bit good.

I think there are a lot of people who just say "I don't get it...." but they haven't 'tried it. Most of my family has created an account but have never touched it since. They would all "get it" too if they would, at least I think. Welcome to the world of tweeting!

So did your roommate start using Twitter for his blog? How is that going? Has he been able to notice the benefits yet (if he's using it enough and the right way...)

I'm 25 and agree with you on twitter. I have an account but I've never really used it, I just can't get interested and usually forget that I have it. As for the politicans, I, too, write the emails and/or make the phone calls...usually if I have something to say to them it won't fit in the 140 or so characters on twitter anyway.

Twitter just didnt work out for me. I tried it for about 2 months. It just isn't as fun for me as facebook. Very difficult to gain new followers. I don't know how you all do it.

I see why everybody loves twitter, but they do need to make some changes, somehow, to make it easier for users to report spammy tweeters and make it easier to block the bad community. A few people can overflow a page of updates and ruin it for the person, eventually driving them away from the service.

Same here. When I first heard about it on various social networking sites, I thought it was only a fad. But when I started using it and realized that it is not only great for keeping track of conversations, but for business related activities as well, I got addicted to it too!

Twitter has gain a good popularity over the time but I think now getting stable on the graph. I heard they had some problem with managing their conversation module. They even went down for a short time to fix it, hope its working good now.

I think that everyone is.. even Google is now recognising twitter and using it for news feeds. Maybe Googles addicted too?
